The Sinthesys of the " Diarios de Campo"
Phase 2 -Diario de Campo
In this phase during observation practices, my focus was on learning from the diverse teaching strategies employed by the teacher, with the goal of preparing myself to address issues in the classroom and gaining confidence in leading classes. Initially, the students were very helpful, although I felt excited and nervous, despite having observed classes before. During lessons on modal verbs, I noticed that the students easily became distracted, but an interactive activity succeeded in increasing their participation and interest. I had the opportunity to explain regular and irregular verbs, which posed a challenge that I managed to overcome, maintaining the students' attention and achieving good results in the assessment.
Phase 3 -Diario de Campo
During this period, the teacher gave me the opportunity to lead the class, which was challenging but allowed me to feel more confident in explaining topics. I observed that students faced difficulties and showed a lack of discipline and attention in some classes, possibly due to a lack of motivation in the teacher's methodology. Topics such as comparatives and superlatives were addressed, with assessments and interactive activities. Despite some challenges, these observations influenced my development and strengthened my relationship with the group. During my participation, I used teaching materials like board sheets to facilitate concept understanding.
Description of the observed population
The students learn meaningfully; currently, they are in 7th grade, comprising 23 students with an age range of 11 to 13 years. It is a physical setting that provides a pleasant and educational environment, positively contributing to their learning process.
Photographic evidence
It was a very pleasant experience as I witnessed the importance of teaching with empathy. The teacher's patience and willingness to answer students' questions were essential factors for a positive learning environment. In some classes, there was a lot of indiscipline, which was a bit concerning, but in the end, everything fell into a better order. On some occasions, I had to explain certain topics and propose activities, which was both exciting and challenging, especially when dealing with many students. The children were kind to me, making the experience even more rewarding. This process allowed me not only to understand the importance of empathy in teaching but also to face and overcome challenges, which I consider fundamental in my teaching development.
Conclusions about my experience in the observation practice
1- The experience underscored the importance of teaching with empathy, highlighting the teacher's patience as crucial for a positive learning environment.
2- Despite discipline challenges in some classes, the situation improved. I had the exciting and challenging opportunity to explain topics to a large number of students.
3- The children's kindness added gratification to the experience, emphasizing the significance of empathy in teaching and my ability to face challenges in my teaching development.
